Printable journal, 12 weeks
The guided couples journal
$17Twelve weeks of prompts. Each week you both answer alone first, in your own copy, then read each other's and talk from there. No quiz, no scoring, just a steady weekly habit of actually saying the thing.
Week 1: Where you actually are
- 01Solo: What's one thing about us right now that you're genuinely glad is true?
- 02Solo: What's one thing you've been quietly carrying that you haven't said out loud?
- 03Together: Read each other's first answer only. Talk about what surprised you, if anything.
Week 2: How you each show up
- 01Solo: When do you feel most like yourself in this relationship?
- 02Solo: What's a way you show love that you're not sure is landing?
- 03Together: Trade answers to the second question. Ask one honest follow-up question each.
Week 3: Being heard
- 01Solo: When you tell me something that matters to you, how can you tell whether I've actually taken it in?
- 02Solo: What's something you've said more than once because it didn't seem to land the first time?
- 03Together: Take turns reading your second answer. Before replying, the other says back what they heard, in their own words.
Week 4: The pattern under the surface
- 01Solo: What's an argument you keep having, even if the subject changes each time?
- 02Solo: What do you think it's actually about, underneath the surface topic?
- 03Together: Compare your two answers to the second question. You don't have to agree yet, just compare.
Week 5: What you need
- 01Solo: What's one specific, small thing that would make an ordinary week better?
- 02Solo: What do you need more of that you haven't clearly asked for?
- 03Together: Each commit to trying the other's "one specific thing" this week.
Week 6: Time that counts
- 01Solo: Think of the last time we were together and it felt like time together, not just time in the same room. What made it different?
- 02Solo: What usually gets in the way of that kind of time?
- 03Together: Compare your first answers. Pick one thing from them you can protect in the next seven days.
Week 7: Money and fairness
- 01Solo: What does money mean to you, in one sentence?
- 02Solo: Does the way we currently split money and effort still feel fair to you?
- 03Together: Talk through both second answers without deciding anything yet. Just make sure you've both been heard.
Week 8: The people around you
- 01Solo: Who outside the two of us has the most say in how things go for us, even without meaning to?
- 02Solo: Where would you like the line to sit between us and the people around us?
- 03Together: Talk through your second answers. You're looking for where your lines already sit close together, not for a ruling on anyone.
Week 9: The future
- 01Solo: What's a version of our life together that you're genuinely excited about?
- 02Solo: Is there something about the future we haven't actually talked through yet?
- 03Together: Pick one open question from your answers and set a specific time to talk it through properly, outside the journal.
Week 10: Trust and repair
- 01Solo: What's something that would help you trust me more, specifically?
- 02Solo: What's a moment, big or small, that you handled well together?
- 03Together: Share your answer to the second question out loud. Let it be as real as the hard stuff has been.
Week 11: What's working
- 01Solo: What's something I do, small or regular, that makes your week easier and that I might not know about?
- 02Solo: What's one thing about us that has got better over the time we've been together?
- 03Together: Read your first answers to each other. Just take them in. There's nothing to fix this week.
Week 12: Naming it
- 01Solo: What's one thing about how the two of you handle hard things that you're proud of?
- 02Solo: What's one thing you want to keep doing after this journal is finished?
- 03Together: Read both final answers aloud. Decide, together, whether to start again from Week 1 in a few months, or keep going in your own way.
